About the School

Tenterden Ballet Studios has held classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz Dance as an established teaching centre for over 25 years. The aim of the school is to give all pupils a thorough grounding and choice in the above dance disciplines.

For the vocational child, further training and the possibility to join associate classes in London are made available. For the 'Once a Weeker' we aim to give children a joy and appreciation of dance.

Tenterden Ballet Studios offers many performance opportunities, annual shows and enter children for Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Cecchetti, Tap, Modern and Jazz examinations as well as Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet examinations on a regular basis. After enrollment, pupils are encouraged to attend regularly in order to progress.

Victoria Zafiropoulos A.I.S.T.D. Dip: Rambert School
Having trained with the Rambert School of Ballet, Victoria danced with Ballet de la Jeunesse Romande, Lausanne Switzerland and as a principal dancer for many years at the Teatro del Opera, Giuseppe Verdi Trieste, Italy. She has also danced in films and television shows in Greece and Italy. Alongside her own schools in Ashford and Tenterden, she has taught at Wilberforce College of performing arts, Hull as a Periapatetic dance teacher for Ashford Friars School and as a Sessional teacher for Kent Adult Education. Other professional commitments include ajudicating in England and Italy. Victoria is the Head of Ballet at Ashford Prep School and now been the principle of Tenterden Ballet Studios for nearly 20 years.

Sarah Mortimer BA ARAD PDTD RTS
Sarah is an ex professional ballerina and RAD qualified dance teacher. She studied various genres including ISTD Tap, Modern, Jazz, Cecchetti and Ballet, all to an advanced level. After attending as an associate of Urdang and London Senior Ballet Sarah auditioned for vocational schools at the age of fifteen. After many successful auditions Sarah decided to accept Ballet West, Scotland due to its beautiful surroundings, prestigious ballet training and the opportunity to graduate with a BA Hons Degree in Classical Ballet and Dance Performance. Sarah toured Scotland with Ballet West Company, performing roles such as The Snow Queen in The Nutcracker and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet as well as having the opportunity to tour China for two months, performing lead roles in The Opera House of National Grand Theatre, Beijing, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai and many more wonderful venues.

Whilst Sarah attended Ballet West she gained distinction in all her major RAD examinations and took her Solo Seal. Sarah was the winner of the 2009 Adeline Calder Scholarship, in 2010 she was the only British finalist in the Genée International Ballet Competition held in Cape Town, South Africa, and was chosen to be the poster girl for the Genée the following year held in New Zealand. She has also been on various TV shows including BBC Alba Dannsa as a featured dancer and BBC’s Inside Out. On graduation in 2011 Sarah auditioned for many ballet companies across Europe. After much deliberation Sarah chose to stay in the UK and in June 2016 had her last performance with Ballet Theatre UK. Sarah graduated from The Royal Academy of Dance gaining the Professional Dancer’ Teaching Diploma (PDTD) becoming a registered teacher (September 2016). Sarah also teaches at Masters Performing Arts College, South East Ballet Scholars and a guest teacher for Edingbugh Associates (Ballet West)

Annie Farrant Davis A.I.S.T.D.
Annie began her dancing journey at the age of 3 in Ashford at the Margaret Giles School of Dancing where she stayed until the age of 18. Throughout this time Annie was involved in lots of shows, musical productions and also began to find she had a passion for choreography and street dance. She began her professional training at Page Mason School of Dance & Drama in 2004 where she also gained her teaching qualifications in Tap and Modern. Annie has taught for several schools throughout Kent including Margaret Giles, Page Mason and Elite Dance Academy, Thanet. Annie has choreographed for festivals and competitions in many different styles. Classes taught by Annie have a high focus on the combination of flawless technique alongside great performance skills, as well as a lot of hard work and, of course fun!

JOSHUA O’MEARA BA (Hons)
Josh has been training in various street styles for the last 10 years, as well as having training and a background knowledge in contemporary dance. Over the years Josh has performed in many shows and performances, including CBBC’s Alesha’s Street Dance Stars, a number of professional UK Tours and performances at London’s Leicester Square Theatre. Josh attended De Montfort University Leicester where he achieved a BA (hons) degree in Dance. Josh’s background is primarily in Breaking (breakdancing) but is also skilled in House and Contemporary. Josh is originally from Leicester and was a part of the teaching faculty at Original Movements Hip Hop Dance Academy for the last 4 years. While teaching in Leicester Josh was a part of the faculty for the So Damn Hype Crew based at Original Movements in Hinckley, Leicestershire, they have held various titles across the UK as well as being on Television, they have also performed at big sporting events in front of over 20,000 people. Josh now teaches at various schools across Kent.
